Course Summary
This course will provide the tools to complete optimal scans of patients who may experience physical and psychological stresses that could prevent scan completion. This course will provide the means to identify red flags that patients may encounter problems to complete scans. Audience members will learn how to identify patients who may require specialized psychological and pharmacological interventions to complete optimal scans. This course will provide training in behavioral techniques to train patients, caregivers, and advocates to learn how to relax quietly while lying in uncomfortable positions in closed spaces for extended period of time. Participants will learn techniques to explain to patients, caregivers, and advocates strategies to prepare challenging patients wot complete nuclear medical and molecular imaging procedures without medication and without stress.

Course Objectives:
1. Identify patients who may require the administration of specialized psychological and pharmacological interventions to accomplish optimal nuclear medical and molecular imaging procedures.
2. Instruct patients, caregivers, advocates, providers, and staff how to develop treatment plans to prepare patients to develop the ability to hold still in uncomfortable positions in closed spaces without stress for extended durations of procedures.
3. Train technologists to facilitate the completion of optimal scans of challenging patients through reinforcement of desired behaviors in collaboration with parents and caregivers during nuclear medical and molecular imaging procedures.
