Speaker - Award Winner
Piotr Slomka, PhD

Course Summary
Dr. Piotr Slomka is the winner of the 2020 CVC Hermann Blumgart Award. This course will include a description of the award and a recognition of Dr. Slomka for his many scientific contributions to our field. Dr. Slomka will then provide his vision for the future of advanced cardiac imaging with a focus on nuclear cardiology. He will emphasize the role of machine learning for diagnostics, fully quantitative description of disease, and outcome prediction using these new tools. This will include thoughts on how physician interpreters may interact with ML tools. He will cover coronary imaging with PET, and provide a broad perspective on the outlook for nuclear cardiology in the 2020-2030 time-frame. The lecture will be forward-thinking, and highly clinically relevant as to where our field is moving. Attendees (physicians, technologists, industry reps) will all benefit from understanding how these new developments will impact our field.

Course Learning Objectives
1. Describe new techniques and approaches for fully quantitative disease and outcome prediction from myocardial perfusion imaging employing the latest artificial intelligence tools.
2. Review  state of the art research in new coronary PET imaging techniques for quantitative identification of vulnerable patient
3. Present 5-10 year outlook on the  field of  nuclear cardiology
