Sponsored by the SNMMI Outreach Committee

Organizer/Moderator
Linda Budzinski

Speakers
Steven Chang, MD, Henry Ford Health System
Renee Moadel, MD, Montefiore Medical Center

Course Summary
This course will include both a nuclear medicine perspective and a head and neck surgeon’s perspective on lymph node mapping and sentinel lymph node biopsy and the role of these procedures in patient management. Participants will have increased knowledge around the goals of lymph node imaging, mapping, and localization, including: (a) appropriate use criteria of lymphoscintigraphy and the clinical value it provides; (b) the clinical advanced and associated trial data on the use of radiotracers for lymph node mapping and localization in patients with head and neck cancers; and (c) integration of the latest evidence on the use of radiotracers in lymph node mapping and  localization and the selection of the appropriate radiotracers to optimize efficient resource utilization, patient experience, and patient outcomes.

Course Objectives
1. Discuss appropriate use criteria of lymphoscintigraphy and the clinical value it provides
2. Examine the clinical advanced and associated trial data on the use of radiotracers for lymph node mapping and localization in patients with head and neck cancers
3. Integrate the latest evidence on the use of radiotracers in lymph node mapping and localization and the selection of the appropriate radiotracers to optimize efficient resource utilization, patient experience, and patient outcomes
